Volume of a Cylinder
HSG-GMD.A.3
Definition
V = pi r squared h, the circular base area times the height.
Examples
- pi(3 squared)(5) = 45 pi cubic units.
- A cylinder with radius 2 and height 10 has volume pi(2 squared)(10) = 40 pi cubic units.
Key rule
The volume of a cylinder equals the area of its circular base times its height.
Memory hook
Circle base area times height.
