Translation
8.G.A.1
Definition
A transformation that slides every point of a figure the same distance in the same direction. The image is congruent to the original.
Examples
- (x, y) → (x+5, y+3) slides right 5 and up 3.
- Size, shape, and orientation stay the same.
Key rule
A translation is a rigid motion — the image stays congruent.
Memory hook
A slide — everything moves the same way.
