Definition
A value of the variable that makes an equation true. It can be verified by substituting it back into the original equation and checking that both sides are equal.
Examples
- For 2x+3=11, x=4 checks out: 2(4)+3=11.
- x=5 does NOT work: 2(5)+3=13≠11.
