Definition
The ratio of the frequency of an outcome to the total number of observations. Expressed as a fraction, decimal, or percent. All relative frequencies sum to 1.
Examples
- 8 out of 30 outcomes: relative frequency = 8/30 ≈ 0.267 = 26.7%.
- Across all outcomes, the relative frequencies must add up to 100%.
