Linear Pair
7.G.B.5
Definition
Two adjacent angles formed when a ray stands on a line. They share a vertex and a side and together form a straight angle (180°). Linear pairs are always supplementary.
Examples
- If ∠1 = 120°, then ∠2 = 180° - 120° = 60°.
- 120° + 60° = 180° confirms the linear pair.
Key rule
Linear pairs are adjacent and always supplementary, summing to 180°.
Memory hook
Two angles side by side, making a straight line.
