Definition

A graph that shows data as marks above a number line, often using fractions.

Examples

  • A line plot with X's above 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 shows how many measurements landed on each value.
  • Three X's above 1 and two X's above 1 1/2 show five measured lengths.

Each X above the number line represents one data value.
