Definition
A specific outcome or set of outcomes from a probability experiment. Written using set notation. P(event) = favorable outcomes ÷ total outcomes in the sample space.
Examples
- Rolling an even number: A = {2,4,6}, P(A) = 3/6 = 50%.
- A simple event has exactly one outcome, like {rolling a 3}.
Key rule
An event is a subset of the sample space.
Memory hook
One outcome, or a group of them, from the full set of possibilities.
