Definition

If the sum of the squares of two sides equals the square of the third, then the triangle is a right triangle.

Examples

  • Sides 6,8,10: 36+64=100=10² — right triangle.
  • Sides 4,5,7: 16+25=41≠49 — NOT a right triangle.

Use the converse to check if a triangle is right by testing a²+b²=c².
