Definition

The area of the base face of a solid; volume equals base area times height.

Examples

  • A base with length 8 cm and width 5 cm has a base area of 40 cm squared.
  • That base area times a height of 12 cm gives a volume of 480 cm cubed.

Volume equals the base area times the height.
